SEMF is a privately owned engineering advisory firm, providing solutions based outcomes for our client partners throughout Australia and New Zealand. We offer feasibility, planning, design and execution expertise within building and property, manufacturing and processing, and resources markets. Through our work, we shape the built and natural environment for the better. 

Founded in 1980, SEMF is known for its innovative design approach, technical excellence and ability to master complex projects spanning various disciplines. Our work on the state-of-the-art moving roof system for Melbourne’s iconic Etihad stadium and projects such as the Royal Hobart Hospital, Darwin Port Corporation shiploaders, the Friskies pet care factory for Nestle Australia and the Sugarloaf Pipeline have cemented our reputation for thought leadership as well as our sharp commercial awareness and commitment to sustainability.
At SEMF, we owe our success to a spirit of collaboration and on partner relationships that are driven by open communication and mutual respect.

SEMF brings together talented individuals from a broad range of disciplines and encourages them to look beyond the limits of their own expertise. We are wholly owned by our staff and employ over 130 engineers, managers, consultants and technical specialists across offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart.

  • SEMF has been the recipient of 29 different awards including the Consult Australia Award of Excellence for design work on the Sonoma Radial Stacker Project in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, the PACE Zenith award for a $13 million redevelopment project at Pacific Terminal’s Coode Island and the Professional Excellence Award for the Pasminco Hobart Smelter’s material feed recovery project from the Australian Institute of Building.
  • SEMF operates under an Integrated Management System to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems), AS/NZS ISO14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems) and AS/NZS 481-2001 (Occupational Health and Safety).
